Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Electrician is responsible for installation and maintenance of the electrical power supply for the Hospital. This position works under general supervision and maintains all electrical equipment and related machinery as designated. Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. - Responsible for installation/maintenance of the electrical power supply for the Hospital under general supervision and maintains all electrical equipment and related machinery as designated
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and wiring throughout the Hospital
- Installs new/additional wiring, distribution centers (panels), electrical equipment and systems
- Performs inspections and tests on electrical lighting, power circuits and equipment
- Repairs electrical circuits and equipment
- Clean and visually inspects all electrical panels/electric vaults
- Responsible for the proper operation and performs preventative maintenance of the emergency power supplies (i.e. generators), auto transfer switches, according to JCAHO guidelines/standards
- Responsible for the proper operation, repair and preventative maintenance on motor control centers and motors
- Reads, interprets and works from blue prints and schematics
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a 4-year approved electrical apprenticeship program plus 2 years shop work
- Minimum of 6 years of related work experience as a commercial or industrial electrician may be substituted in lieu of education and training requirements
- On-the-job training provided as determined by the Supervisor
- Licensure/certification required: Valid Indiana Driver's License
- Knowledge of materials and tools best suited to perform electrical work
- Knowledge of electrical codes (i.e., National Fire Protection Association, state, local and OSHA requirements)
- Knowledge of architecture and building construction (i.e., commercial and industrial)
- Knowledge of electrical formulas
- Knowledge of installation and repairs of motor controls, automated switchgear and transformer connection
- Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills
- Ability to work from blueprints and schematics
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret all measuring devices, frequently work with voltages (ranges 120/208, 277/480 and 460)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must work from ladders and scaffold
