Plumbing Estimator

Position Summary:

• Responsible for estimating and takeoffs of plumbing and HVAC including sheet metal

• Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings

• Provide projects material takeoffs and pricing

• Attend project site surveys and walks

• Proficient in inputting missing information in the bid documents. Completing the design with intent.

• Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training courses as needed and/or required.

• Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.

• Ensures smooth and timely estimates.

• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and pricing including but not limited to calling and/or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.

• Ability to clearly write scope letters.

• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A good understanding of all aspects of estimating for mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel, while representing in a professional manner.

• Must be able to understand the design intent and fill in missing information to complete an estimate.

• 8 years' experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 5 years' experience as a Journeyman.

• 5-8 years prior estimating experience.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation, sheet metal, HVAC, or fire protection (as assigned).

• Good math ability.

• Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook).

• Detail oriented.

• Good time management.

• Understanding confidentiality.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Ability to learn new systems and technologies.

• Trimble Viewpoint and/or QuickPen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and QuoteSoft experience preferred.

• Bluebeam experience preferred.

• Ability to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers, and customers.

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.

• Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.

• Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience.

• Journeyman Fire Protection license or equivalent experience.

• Eyesight correctable to 20/50

• Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.

• Special Requirements:

• Valid driver's license.

• OSHA 10 hours.

• Required to work onsite within office location.
