SUMMARY
Hands-on installer supporting new equipment installs, relocations, and upgrades inside an active EV automotive plant. You will set, level, anchor, power-up, and support commissioning of production machinery across body-in-white, general assembly, stamping, battery/module, paint support systems, conveyors, and robotics. The work is fast-paced, precision-driven, and highly coordinated with company operations, OEMs, and general contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform full-scope machinery installation: offload, rig, set, align, level/shim, anchor, and grout bases and skids.
Execute precision alignment using laser/optical tools for gearboxes, motors, conveyors, transfer systems, robots, and tooling.
Install mechanical utilities: pneumatics, hydraulics, process water, vacuum, and lubrication systems.
Install electrical distribution and controls: cable tray, conduit, power drops (120480V 3), 24VDC, terminations, device wiring, sensors, and safety circuits.
Support controls checkout: I/O point-to-point, VFD/servo parameterization, basic PLC/HMI assists with OEMs.
Build and integrate conveyors, lifts, turntables, AGC/AGV interfaces, robot bases, dress packs, end-of-arm tooling, and guarding.
Read and work from OEM installation manuals, P&IDs, electrical schematics, GA layouts, and detail prints (metric and SAE).
Execute plant-safe work: LOTO, energized work permits (as applicable), hot work, confined space (as applicable), and daily JHAs.
Coordinate field activities with internal staff, OEMs, and other trades to hit install windows in live production areas.
Perform preventative maintenance, punch-list clearance, rework, and startup/commissioning support through handover.
Maintain as-built documentation, redlines, torque logs, alignment reports, and material/equipment inventories.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years hands-on machinery installation in automotive or high-volume industrial manufacturing (installer, millwright, or industrial electrician/mechanic background).
Demonstrated experience setting and aligning production equipment, conveyors, and/or robotics inside a live plant environment.
Proficiency reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and layout plans; strong understanding of tolerances and datum schemes.
Experience with 480V 3-phase, 24VDC control circuits, sensors, VFDs/servos, and safety devices; basic PLC I/O familiarity.
Skilled with rigging fundamentals, signaling, overhead crane use, and aerial work platforms.
Ability to use precision tools: laser alignment systems, machinist levels, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers.
Ability to work independently or within a multi-trade install crew under tight shutdown/turn-window timelines.
Current, valid Drivers License.
CERTIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)
Current forklift certification (sit-down and/or stand-up).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
OSHA 30, Qualified Rigger/Signalperson, Fall Protection training.
NCCER or equivalent craft credentials.
Exposure to automotive body-in-white, stamping presses, paint shop auxiliaries, or battery/module assembly lines.
Basic robot integration exposure (ABB/FANUC/KUKA) and dress-out best practices.
WORK CONDITIONS
Physically demanding environment; lifting up to 5075 lbs, climbing, kneeling, working at height.
The pay range for this role is $35/hour.
