Position Summary
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Performing all phases of electrical work including installation of electrical wiring, repair of electrical systems and hookup of electrical equipment.
- Maintaining, servicing, and repairing portable and fixed electrical equipment, including emergency power generators.
- Selecting and recommending purchase of materials, equipment and supplies.
- Submitting monthly reports.
- Maintaining safe working conditions including: ensuring all tools are accounted for, maintaining key control, enforcing Lockout-Tagout policy and procedures, and instructing staff on electrical safety.
Salary Information
Pay is based on the number of leave hours selected in accordance with the Trade Rates Booklet in effect at time of appointment. $46.65 per hour if 100 hours of leave, $45.91 per hour if 140 hours of leave, or $45.17 per hour if 180 hours of leave.
A 12-month probationary period is required. This position is represented by the Wisconsin State Building Trades bargaining unit and is in pay schedule and range 04/00.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Licensure in the State of Wisconsin as a Master Electrician as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience interpreting DHS or National Electric Code (NEC) codes and guidelines.
- Confined Space training or certification.
- Experience instructing and directing other co-workers or trade staff.
