As an Electrical Engineer on the Spot sustaining team, you will support the electronics for all fielded versions of Boston Dynamics' quadruped mobile robots. Your mission will be to investigate and resolve field and production failures, address component obsolescence issues, and qualify first articles for new products/suppliers. You may also contribute to new design work, assist with design verification testing (DVT), and iterate upon existing production designs. You'll love working on a fun, collaborative, and talented team to support one of the world's coolest robots.

How you will make an impact:
Develop (document, design, test, support) short- and long-term solutions to product design defects
Collaborate across the engineering, manufacturing, production, and test teams to triage, troubleshoot, and diagnose robot failures to root cause
Lead cross-functional debug "tiger teams" and present findings to leadership
Qualify production supplier changes by developing and executing production validation test (PVT) plans
Author technical documentation such as test plans, test reports, debug reports, rework instructions, schematics, layout, and BOMs
Collaborate with supply chain to resolve component obsolescence issues
Develop test and debugging infrastructure (test boards, cables, software, tools, etc.)
May contribute to new product development (design and DVT) if needed
Create Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
Participate in design reviews
Contribute to continuous improvement activities such as authoring process documentation
We are looking for:
BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or closely related field
5+ years of directly related work experience
Demonstrated ability to debug to root cause complex electrical issues
Strong embedded computing and robotics systems knowledge
Solid foundation of electrical engineering fundamentals
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Altium)
Familiarity with common PLM software (e.g. Arena)
Basic Linux skills
Detail oriented, methodical, and creative problem solver
Nice to have:
Software development in C/C++, Python, Verilog/VHDL, and/or LabView
Familiarity with Jira for bug tracking
Familiarity with formal problem solving techniques such as 5 Whys, 8D, etc.
