Maintenance Electrician Job Description The Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) Technician III is responsible for maintaining plant equipment at optimal efficiency, with a particular focus on CNC (Computer Numeric Control) equipment. This role involves employing extensive knowledge in Preventive and Predictive Maintenance practices to enhance machine reliability. The successful candidate will apply advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve technical, mechanical, electrical, and programming issues. Additionally, the role involves developing and training Maintenance Apprentices and collaborating with operations to boost machine efficiencies. Responsibilities Perform advanced technical machine electrical and mechanical repairs in collaboration with Supervisor and Unit Specialist. Work independently with limited support and guidance from leaders. Lead project teams within Maintenance and provide direction to other mechanics for specific machine reliability projects. Mentor LME apprentices. Collaborate and apply innovative, creative solutions for moderate to high-risk maintenance-related projects to exceed goals and targets. Provide input for new equipment and processes and work with Manufacturing Engineers and leadership to resolve quality concerns and improve existing processes. Utilize extensive knowledge of electronic instrumentation such as scopes, meters, etc. to troubleshoot electrical control/drive systems, single and 3-phase power up to 480V, and VFDs (variable frequency drives). Collaborate with and often lead maintenance projects to improve machine reliability. Actively engage and participate in the department's continuous improvement efforts. Maintain maintenance records in a CMMS (Cribmaster), and order preventive maintenance supplies as needed. Perform basic and advanced preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment throughout the plant. Follow and adhere to OSHA and DEQ requirements. Essential Skills 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience. LME or other journeyman level qualification in industrial mechanical maintenance. Experience in maintaining and repairing CNC equipment in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems. Knowledge of electrical control/drive systems, single and 3-phase power up to 480V, servos, and open and closed-loop feedback systems. Understanding of control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), relay logic, and pneumatic logic. Knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and Oregon Electric Code. Proficiency in computers and the ability to learn new computer programs such as CMMS (CribMaster). Understanding of tolerance required on production machinery and ability to fabricate repair parts. Effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Interpersonal skills for seamless transition into other work cells within the department. Fulfillment of the minimum qualifications of LME Maintenance Technician II. HazMat certification or willingness to become certified within the first year of employment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or maneuver up to 35 pounds routinely. Manual hand dexterity to grasp and operate tools and equipment repetitively. Capability to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Ability to work in areas exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust, using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and foot protection.
