Under limited supervision, this position provides overall project management direction from inception to completion of all MnDOT transportation projects in District 1. This position will be the primary project contact for other public agencies and the general public regarding project activities. This position will provide overall direction and leadership to technical project teams in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in the management of project activities for minor to moderate scale projects to meet the project requirements. This position will manage consultants and ensure consistency with MnDOT strategy, commitments and goals as well as ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards. This position will facilitate in-person public meetings in District 1, which may take place after core business hours on an occasional basis. This position is located in the Duluth Headquarters Office in Duluth, MN and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. Only one position will be filled; the final class and starting salary of this position is dependent on the successful applicant's qualifications. **Minimum Qualifications for Engineer Senior:** To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must meet all the following: + Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.) + Valid Class D Driver's License. **Minimum Qualifications for Engineer 2 Graduate:** To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following: + A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC. + A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. + Two years post-graduation civil engineering work. + Valid Class D Driver's License OR + Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam. **NOTE:** + A master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university substitutes for one year of post-graduate civil engineering work. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience planning, designing and/or constructing highway projects. + Knowledge of project management techniques and tools. + Knowledge of project schedule development. + Knowledge of MnDOT policies, procedures and state and federal rules and regulations. **Physical Requirements** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use wrists, hands, and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
