Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the processes in maintaining and preserving the efficiency of all equipment, production lines, and/or facilities, resulting in the optimization of technical and financial resources. Each day, you will oversee execution of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities. You will also showcase your expertise by managing and updating technical documentation of equipment, production lines, and/or facilities.

The work model for the role is: onsite This role reports to: Maintenance Supervisor This role is contributing to the ELDS Maintenance department for the 1st shift operations in Mebane, NC . You will join a dynamic & talented team where you will be able to thrive.
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Assist general maintenance employees with other repairs
  • Work with drawings, sketches and other written or verbal instructions, etc. keeping necessary records
  • Defining maintenance plans for new production lines or facilities, and consulting on ways to improve reliability, maintainability, and safety of equipment and/or facilities.
  • Solving major technical, equipment, or facilities problems to achieve higher performance of the production lines.
  • Proposing improvement projects for processes and production lines aimed at reducing ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and optimizing operational and energy efficiency.
  • Responding to emergencies, breakdowns, malfunctions, and other operating problems to minimize disruption in the production process.
  • Escalate health, safety, environmental, and security concerns promptly
  • Follow all safety policies, guidelines and expectations when operating in day-to-day activities
  • Drive high standards for safety and housekeeping and assure compliance with all environmental regulations

Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years working in building maintenance, the electrical field, and or facilities.
  • Two-year technical associate degree or equivalent coursework (emphasis on electronics, electrical and hydraulics and maintenance) or equivalent work experience of a minimum of 4 years
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • Ability to troubleshoot by identifying electrical problems with applicable electrical testing devices
  • Follow state and local building regulations
  • Knowledge of North Carolina state electrical codes
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 40lbs
  • Will be required to handle hazardous waste
  • Must be able to read electrical diagrams
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic prints for electronic equipment
  • Ability to isolate defective components in malfunctioning NC and hydraulic systems and repair these components (i.e., hydraulic valves, actuators, cylinders, PC cards to chip level) to return system to production with minimum delay
  • Pipefitting and plumbing for various areas to include water, steam and air
  • Compressed air and electrical distribution repairs
  • Prior experience in material handling equipment (tow truck, pallet jack, forklift)
  • Experience in EHS or safety related issues pertaining to maintenance
