Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Landscape Architect to join our expanding Landscape Design Team. In this role, you will assist senior staff with various landscape architecture projects. Your tasks will include the preparation of concept plans, site plans, details, construction drawings, site analysis, and presentation graphics. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior staff on design packages for projects like healthcare facilities, regional trails, urban plazas, residential developments, large commercial centers, and corporate campuses.
- Analyze data on conditions such as site location, drainage, or structure location for environmental reports or landscaping plans.
- Integrate existing and proposed land features and structures into designs.
- Prepare plans using CAD software.
- Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs.
- Analyze environmental reports on land conditions, such as drainage and energy usage.
- Assist in the preparation of landscape plans, site plans, hardscape details, construction drawings, site analysis, and presentation graphics.
- Coordinate the preparation of project drawings, exhibits, and calculations with other engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Communicate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project.
- Seek appropriate guidance in resolving various project-related issues.
- Manage time effectively, organize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously to meet project deadlines and client needs.
- Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
- Develop and prepare graphic designs and renderings.
- Prepare construction documents and specifications.
- Write clearly and communicate effectively.
- Develop site plans and understand topography.
- Develop technical drawings: grading, layout, planting plans, details, etc.
- Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- 5+ years of experience preparing schematic design, design development, and construction documents for various site development projects.
- Working knowledge of landscape and native plants in the Midwest region.
- Experience working in a landscape architectural office, or other types of professional design offices, architectural firms, or engineering firms.
- Grading experience.
- Urban Planning or Site Development experience.
- Project Management skills.
- Construction Management skills.
- Cost Estimating skills.
- Experience with City of Detroit projects.
- Licensing in related fields is a plus.
