Alternative Power Generation (APG), a Willdan Company, is seeking a Construction Manager. APG is a national full- service design-build engineering, construction, and energy services company (ESCO).

The Senior Construction Manager will provide leadership support on several concurrent mid-sized energy retrofit construction projects throughout the United States. Our ideal candidate will have at least 10+ years' experience in construction management, with a focus on commercial buildings projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership and oversite for large-scale construction projects across the United States.
  • Manage project teams, oversee complex projects, and maintain full accountability for performance.
  • Coordinate submittal process.
  • Assist in hiring and staff training for construction team.
  • Generate participant proposals in coordination with engineering and project management teams.
  • Direct construction meetings between Construction Managers, Subcontractors, APG and Owner.
  • Responsible for creating a detailed construction plan and schedule, ensuring that all activities are properly coordinated and executed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee project budget and resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure that the project is completed within budget and on time.
  • Act as a liaison between Subcontractors and engineers to ensure work complies with project requirements.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and mentorship to other members of the construction team, including project managers, engineers, and field staff, to ensure that they are meeting project goals and performing their jobs effectively.
  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating project risks, including conducting risk assessments, developing risk management plans, and implementing risk mitigation strategies to ensure that the project is completed safely and successfully.
  • Travel throughout the United States as required to construction sites and office locations.
  • Develop and expand the client relationship and ensure that project performance will exceed client expectations.
  • Ensure QAQC procedures are followed and audit all QAQC documentation on construction projects.
  • Ensure proper redlines are captured, maintained, and documented by Construction Managers for all field construction changes and ensure all construction changes are captured on Project as-built drawings at project completion.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial construction. This experience should include managing large-scale projects, coordinating with subcontractors, and overseeing the work of construction crews.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering/construction management or other construction related field is preferred but not required.
  • Must be a strong leader who can motivate and manage construction crews and subcontractors. Experience managing large teams and be able to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of the construction process is required. Knowledge of the ESCO design and commissioning process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and institutional facilities is preferred.
  • Capable of leading confidently in identifying, correcting and/or avoiding potential schedule, budget or quality issues. The ability to make decisions, while balancing cost implications, to avoid disruptions in the work or customers' operations is required.
  • Be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee and Subcontractor performance.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project's goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Thorough understanding of Company and industry practices, policies, and standards.
  • Desire and capability to lead others in the construction process.
  • Effectively engage clients in the construction process. Respond to client concerns in an effective and timely manner.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills. Capable of maintaining project documentation and working on multiple activities/projects at one time.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and concepts with project team members, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and climb a ladder.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
