Job Title: Mobile Crane Operator

What You'll Do

• Operates diesel and gasoline powered cranes, railroad engines, and other heavy-duty construction and handling equipment in lifting and moving extremely heavy objects.
• Operates all types of heavy power-driven equipment used in road building and maintenance, including paver, milling machine, construction of buildings, finish grading, excavations around underground and overhead utilities with lock out/tag out knowledge, moving of earth, sand, gravel, snow, and coal.
• Removal of trees/vegetation with heavy equipment, supports laborer with day-to-day activities such as hazardous tree removal and felling, digging, loading, offloading trucks.
• Operate heavy equipment on steep grades, in extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, snow, and ice.
• Operate heavy equipment for extended hrs. and days. Operate heavy equipment with GPS and grade control.
• Directs the anchoring blocking outrigging and security of the crane.
• Responsible for checking the equipment #s mechanism for defect and being in proper mechanical condition prior to operating.
• Performs other tasks assigned and related to this field of work.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Requires ten years' experience in the operation of all listed diesel and gasoline powered mobile heavy equipment on DOE sites. Candidate will provide proof of certification for cranes up to 100-ton, hoists, dozers, excavators, fecon/mulcher attachments, grader, loader, GPS systems.
• Competent excavation/trench training. Excavations in radiological areas, around live and loto underground/overhead utilities.
• A knowledge of stress and tensile strength of steel cables, crane lifting capacities, safe operating techniques and rigging practices is essential.
• Required candidate to provide proof of Certification of paving equipment such as paver and mill machine.
• In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
