Job Title: Electrical Engineer/Designer - Dallas, Texas
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer/Designer who will be responsible for creating electrical schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs), with opportunities to engage in PLC and HMI programming. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing switchboard and switchgear solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality control panels that meet client specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop switchboard and switchgear solutions for various industrial applications, adhering to client requirements and industry standards.
- Generate accurate and comprehensive BOMs based on design specifications, ensuring the availability and compatibility of all components.
- Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical.
- Perform power calculations, including load analysis, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit calculations to ensure proper electrical design and safety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients, to gather requirements and address design challenges.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure that designs align with project goals, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to improve design processes and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to the optimization of control panel designs, focusing on cost-efficiency, reliability, and maintenance ease.
- Support the procurement team by providing technical guidance on component selection and vendor relationships.
- Provide technical assistance during manufacturing and assembly phases, addressing any issues and ensuring accurate implementation of designs.
- Perform designs and engineering according to job specifications and governing code bodies such as UL508a, UL67, UL891, and NEC.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate degree in a related CAD or engineering field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or AutoCAD.
- Ability to create and read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with electrical layout and control panel layout drawings.
- Minimum of 2 years of electrical design experience.
- Understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, controls, and relevant calculations.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, IEC, and UL.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Switchboard Field or Service Technician.
- Switchboard or switchgear electrical design experience is a plus.
- Hands-on hobbies involving electronics or construction are beneficial.
- UL certification and familiarity with UL 891 and UL 67 standards are advantageous.
Work Environment
This is a Monday to Friday position with a start time between 6 am-7 am. The role involves working in an office environment with collaboration in manufacturing settings for design purposes. No travel is required, and you will have the opportunity to adapt to evolving technologies in a fast-paced work environment. This position offers a ground floor opportunity in a growing area of an established company, with potential for extension based on workload and performance.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
