Job Title: Powertrain Design Engineer
Job Duties: Toyota Material Handling, Inc. seeks a Powertrain Design Engineer based in Columbus, IN to develop powertrain systems and components for electric forklifts. Participate in design, development, and release of new and improved forklift models, options, and original OEM components. Develop, validate, and enhance powertrain components to meet product
performance and durability requirements. Create, manage, and execute development schedule for powertrain-related components to meet project deadlines. Collaborate cross- functionally
with teams to ensure safety, manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery of new products. Work with testing groups to detail necessary tests and pass/fail criteria for prototype evaluation. Work with electrical engineering team to specify system parameters and performance targets for control system design. Analyze FEA reports and work with CAE engineers to confirm strength of components. Properly manage part, assembly, and drawing revisions using CAD and PLM software. Author product specification documentation to powertrain component suppliers. Ensure drawing quality by verifying design intent, quality control characteristics, dimensions, tolerances, and clarity. Upkeep proper engineering documentation related to critical component design information, Bill of Materials, and Engineering Change Instructions. Local telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Annual salary: $103,438 - $106,845.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of new product development engineering experience in: (1) Supporting powertrain design of mobile equipment; (2) 3D CAD and PLM software; (3) Electric vehicle powertrain components, configurations, design principles and manufacturing processes; (4) AC electrical power systems; (5) Analyzing FEA reports and working with CAE engineers on strength of components; (6) Writing product specification documentation; and (7) Mechanical and thermal testing.
