Job Summary
The Asphalt Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the asphalt production facility. This role includes supervising staff, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, optimizing production processes, and maintaining quality standards.
Main Responsibilities
Operational Supervision:
Supervise the daily operations of the asphalt plant to ensure efficient production processes.
Assist in the development and implementation of production schedules and coordinate with project managers to meet delivery deadlines.
Staff Supervision:
Supervise and mentor plant personnel, including operators and maintenance staff.
Assist in conducting performance evaluations and managing staffing needs.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with quality standards for asphalt production.
Support the implementation of quality control measures and participate in regular inspections and testing of materials.
Safety and Compliance Oversight:
Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Maintenance Coordination:
Coordinate with maintenance teams to oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Help schedule regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
Budget and Cost Management:
Assist in managing the plant budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
Communication and Reporting:
Report production metrics, safety incidents, and operational issues to the Plant Foreman or senior management.
Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and logistics, to streamline operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (preferred).
- Extensive experience in asphalt production or related construction industry roles.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards related to asphalt production.
- Proficient in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
