Job Summary

Assists to operate and maintain Bethels HVAC, lighting and plumbing system.

Responsibilities

1-Troubleshoot campus HVAC equipment issues. 45%

  • Install, service, and repair failed equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on campus HVAC equipment.
  • Manage filter HVAC filter inventory.

2-Troubleshoots campus electrical issues - 15%

  • Provides support for the electrical division.
  • Assists electrical related work requests and helps maintain electrical systems on the campus.

3-Troubleshoots campus plumbing issues - 15%

  • Provides support for the plumbing division.
  • Assists plumbing related work requests and helps maintain plumbing systems on the campus.

4-Student worker supervision - 15%

  • Supervise and schedule technical services student workers.
  • Supervise and schedule housing maintenance student workers during the summer.

5-On-call technical services functions. 10%

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of Combustion and efficiency testing.
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems.
  • Working knowledge with variable frequency drives, DanFoss and ABB.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Working knowledge of DDC controls.
  • Working knowledge of Numatics.
  • Must be a self-starter.
Experience
  • Required Experience: 2+ years of HVAC (commercial or residential) and boiler experience.
  • First class C boiler license required.
Education
  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires little to no travel.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Must be able to evaluate the exterior and interior cleanliness of buildings and inspect all types of custodial related or supported areas.

Complies with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.

This position may be required to enter active construction sites and may need to access areas of the university that vary in temperature.

Expected Hours of Work:

Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
