Duties and Responsibilities include:
Safe and efficient operation of equipment and tools necessary to perform maintenance on electrical equipment.
Assist in the performance of Journeyman Electrician duties, under the direction of Electrical Supervisor and/or Lead Man or Journeyman Electrician, by modifying, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing electrical equipment inside and outside the power plant, including motors, switchgears, control circuits, electrical generators, elevators, communications systems, lighting, station batteries, battery chargers, inverters, electrostatic precipitators and all other electrical components on heavy industrial equipment.
Performs cleaning, lubrication, rigging, painting and any other work to assure proper operation and appearance of equipment, structures, and grounds.
Rigging may be required during the installation, removal and/or testing of equipment.
Reads and interprets prints, sketches, technical manuals, and piping schematics.
Keep all tools and work areas clean and in an orderly manner.
Periodic inspections of all electrical equipment and reports any concerns to management.
Uses necessary hand tools, miscellaneous equipment, and handheld technology.
Required to work from heights.
Follow all policies and procedures established by the Electrical Maintenance Department and AECI.
May be required to collaborate with Journeyman Instrumentation Technicians to troubleshoot low-voltage, DCS and /or PLC circuits and systems.
Performs any other work as assigned. However, work will not be assigned arbitrarily or capriciously.
Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of four years of experience in heavy industrial electrical repair or minimum of two years of electrical trade school or equivalent, plus one year of experience in heavy industrial repair or minimum of three years of electrical apprentice program.
Basic computer skills required.
Working knowledge of PLC's is preferred.
Achieve and maintain a competent level of technical skills and knowledge in order to satisfactorily perform duties and responsibilities.
Demonstrate a strong mechanical ability and willingness to learn all components of the entire power plant.
Accomplish more skilled work as they progress from first to fourth period to Journeyman Electrician.
