JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop and implement control systems for systems in the Nutrition and Health sector of industry.
Responsibilities of an Electrical Controls Engineer include designing control systems, drawing up tender documentation, and testing and debugging control systems to ensure they meet functional requirements and user needs.
Our ideal candidate is proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and understands control theory and process system dynamics.
The goal of the Electrical Controls Engineer is to create and implement high-quality, efficient and fully operational control systems that comply with industry standards, regulations and specifications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop control systems based on SPX FLOW standards and the requirements of the project. Including development of the following:
Automation architecture drawings
Hardware specifications
I/O lists
Detailed electrical design
Network design and configuration
Safety circuit design and configuration
Pneumatic design
Skid and field wiring diagrams
Specifications of manufactured elements (e.g., PLC panels, I/O panels, motor control panels and MCCs)
Perform study calculations (e.g., power loads) to support electrical design and specifications.
Conduct system integration, testing and debugging to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Customer and other supplier correspondence
Panel shop testing
Factory and/or site acceptance testing
Work with interdisciplinary teams to meet system performance and project goals. Other SPX FLOW teams include:
- Proposal team at the beginning of a project
Project management throughout the project
Process engineering throughout the project
Automation engineering throughout the project
Installation and Commissioning towards the end of the project
Prepare system and component-level specifications.

Panel instrumentation specifications
Panel shop requests for quote
Participate in the development of system documentation and control manuals.
Item lists
Instrument lists
Motor lists
As built electrical and pneumatic drawings
Factory and site acceptance testing documentation
Operator's manual
Provide technical support for system installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Electrical and pneumatic installation bid specifications
Fabrication shop and jobsite pre-bid walkthroughs with customers and electrical contractors
Review of installation bids with SPX FLOW project management and supply chain team members
Assist in the planning and mobilization of electrical installation activities (e.g., panel unloading and positioning)
Electrical site supervision
Assist in item verification and problem solving
Troubleshooting electrical problems
Comply with SPX FLOW procedures and industry standards.
Ensure that tasks are completed according to project schedule, quality and within budget.
Stay updated with the latest controls engineering techniques and technologies.
Act safely, especially outside of the known office environment (e.g., at customer and supplier sites)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Prerequisites:
- BS / BT degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or relevant field
Proven work experience as an Electrical Controls Engineer or similar role
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical software
Fluent in English - spoken and written
Ability to travel globally up to approximately 30% of the time.

This job operates in a manufacturing professional office environment. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise level while on the production floor.
