Satellite Boiler Operator
Posting Summary:
Operate, repair and maintain steam and hydronic heating systems and its associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Contact building occupants as required and update building operations to ensure maximum energy conservation. Communicate with a variety of university personnel to effectively and efficiently manage the utility resources. Access information utilizing appropriate desktop applications. Promote a workplace that encourages safety within the Shop and field. May operate University vehicle. This position reports to a supervisor and requires active engagement in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer service experiences.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
High school diploma, vocational courses and three years of experience in heating and/or cooling systems maintenance. VT Fuel Oil Burning Equipment Installer (Limited) Certificate and a VT Natural Gas Certification or ability to obtain within one year required. Familiarity with boiler automation systems. Effective verbal communication skills required. A valid drivers license or ability to obtain and drivers check required. Experience using computers required. Comfortable in confined spaces and with heights. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check.
