Description: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer HVAC & Facilities to join our engineering team in Fort McMurray. This role supports the safe, reliable operation of industrial facilities and occupied buildings, with a strong focus on HVAC and facility utility systems that protect people, equipment, and production. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Projects teams to provide practical, fieldbased engineering support across production facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and other safetycritical spaces. What Youll Do
  • Act as the engineering subject matter expert for HVAC and facilities systems across industrial and production facilities
Provide technical support for:
  • Ventilation, heating, cooling, pressurization, and air quality systems
  • Plumbing and utility systems, including:
  • Emergency showers and eyewash systems
  • Domestic and industrial plumbing
  • Natural gas systems
  • Fuel and lube systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Troubleshoot HVAC and facilities system issues, including airflow, temperature control, pressurization, and equipment reliability
  • Support daytoday operational needs for assigned production units, responding to emergent facility issues
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to develop practical, executable engineering solutions
  • Prepare and review engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to HVAC, plumbing, and facilities modifications
  • Participate in field walkdowns, condition assessments, and deficiency reviews
  • Support commissioning, startup, and handover of new or modified HVAC and facilities systems
  • Provide engineering input into maintenance strategies and asset lifecycle planning
What You Bring
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas and HVAC
  • Strong background in HVAC and facility utility systems design, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable working in an operating plant environment, including regular fieldbased work
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Nice to Have
  • Experience supporting productionaligned engineering roles
  • Familiarity with Alberta codes and standards related to HVAC, plumbing, and building systems
  • Experience with MOC processes, commissioning, or facilities asset management
