EDGEhomes, Utahs premier home builder, is hiring a full-time Assistant Construction Manager to join our Construction Team.
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for protecting, maintaining, and preparing completed homes from final inspection through homeowner orientation and occupancy. The role focuses on ensuring homes remain safe, functional, clean, and move-in ready while delivering a high-quality, consistent buyer experience.
ResponsibilitiesPerform routine spec checks on completed homes to ensure readiness, safety, and presentation standards are consistently met.
Maintain and protect completed homes as valuable company assets, including interior, exterior, and overall property condition. Verify and maintain the core Ls and Fs: Leaks, Locks, Laminate, Lights, Furnace, and Filter, while identifying and addressing punch list and maintenance items.
Conduct regular site visits to assigned homes to:
- Confirm HVAC systems are functioning properly and set to correct temperatures
- Ensure plumbing systems are operational with no leaks and all drains are maintained
- Check that all windows and doors are secured
- Verify interior and exterior lighting conditions
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation, including light cleaning and touch-ups as needed
- Thoroughly inspect each home and identify, assign, and complete any remaining or newly discovered punch list or maintenance items
- Prepare homes for upcoming orientations and buyer walkthroughs, ensuring homes are fully functional, clean, and show-ready.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues on-site whenever possible, including minor maintenance, adjustments, and corrective actions.
- Escalate urgent issues immediately (e.g., no heat, leaks, gas concerns, frozen pipes) and take appropriate action to mitigate risk.
- Create and manage punch list items using company systems for any issues requiring additional construction attention.
- Coordinate with construction managers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Monitor landscaping and exterior conditions for homes that are completed and awaiting sale or closing.
- Maintain accurate records of completed checks, updates, and assignments, and stay on schedule with daily assigned homes, checklists, and internal systems.
- Support final orientation readiness and contribute to a positive homeowner experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 13 years of construction, maintenance, or related field experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of residential construction systems including HVAC, plumbing, and general home components
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues, inconsistencies, or changes in home condition
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently in the field
- Comfortable using technology including smartphones, tablets, scheduling tools, and internal systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams and report issues clearly and timely
- Self-directed with strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple homes, priorities, and schedules effectively
- Professional, reliable, and able to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with a willingness to assist where needed
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods across multiple job sites
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and movement throughout homes and construction environments
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as needed
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and devices
- Visual acuity necessary to inspect homes, identify issues, and review details
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and via phone or written communication
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety
This is a full-time, MondayFriday position performed in the field across multiple communities. Wage commensurate with experience. Hiring contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen. Edge Construction, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
