Work involves ensuring that all County bridges are being inspected for safe traveling of the public and to keep the records in compliance with FHWA and ALDOT Regulations. This position serves as Project Inspector on Federal/State Aid Projects (Bridge Const./Roadway Const). Also, inspects and reports on Federal Aid Bridge Construction. Duties and Responsibilities Field inspections of County Bridges. Ensures that Bridge Inspection Files are up-to-date and in compliance with FHWA and NBI guidelines. Inspects and reports on Bridge/Roadway Construction - Federal/State Aid Project and County Projects. Responsible for field and office verifications on Quality Control on Federal State Aid Projects. Assists the Chief Engineer with preparation of monthly estimates, test reports, and final estimate documentation on Federal Aid projects. May self-perform estimates and final estimate documentation on County projects. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five years experience in surveying bridge construction and inspection. Two years experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. NBI Certification. ALDOT Concrete and Asphalt Technician, or the ability to be licensed within 2 years. Valid drivers license. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Valid drivers license. NBI Certification. ALDOT Concrete and Asphalt Technician, or the ability to be licensed within 2 years. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed outdoors and is subject to extreme weather conditions, odors, and noises. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is medium in nature and consists of walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, wading, climbing, standing, and driving. EXAMINATIONS: No written or performance examination will be required for this position.
