We are currently hiring Scenic Painters in Orlando, FL for upcoming projects. Pay is $20- $26 per hour based on experience and skillset. Painter/Scenic Artist is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing scenic and fabricated elements using a variety of materials and techniques. This position encompasses various experience levels and offers opportunities for artistic growth, leadership, and craftsmanship within a creative fabrication environment. Scenic Painter will contribute to projects that blend art and construction, supporting the company s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation. 6:00 AM- 4:00 PM
OT Available: Saturday & Sunday
Long- Term
Scenic Painter Responsibilities:
Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
Prepare surfaces by sanding, masking, and priming for painting or finishing applications.
Mix and apply paints, coatings, stains, and finish according to specifications.
Execute a range of techniques including spraying, rolling, brushing, and airbrushing.
Apply faux finishes such as woodgrain, metal, patina, marble, and stone textures.
Read and interpret color boards, design drawings, and finish references.
Inspect finished surfaces for quality and consistency; correct imperfections as needed.
Collaborate with the Paint Shop Foreman, team members, and other departments to meet project timelines and design intent.
Maintain equipment, tools, and materials in proper working conditions.
Assist in color matching, sample creation, and client approvals.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience or education in painting, scenic art, or themed fabrication.
Expert-level knowledge of painting methods, procedures, and quality standards, depending on position.
Ability to read blueprints and perform material take-offs, depending on position.
Proficiency with spray guns (HVLP), water-based and urethane paints.
Knowledge of faux finishing techniques and color theory.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work on ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
Strong understanding of shop safety standards and procedures.
Certification or formal training in painting or scenic arts is a plus
Must be able to pass drug screening
Preferred Skills:
Painters (Intermediate)
Supports the scenic team in the preparation, painting, and finishing of scenic elements.
Prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, filling, taping, and masking with attention to detail.
Apply base coats and standard finishes to scenic elements with consistency and quality.
Assist Scenic Artists with faux finishes such as woodgrains, simple textures, and gradients.
Mix paints using formulas or direction to achieve consistent color matching.
Support the creation of paint samples and mock-ups for review.
Scenic Artist I (Intermediate)
Performs complex painting and finishing work independently and with a team.
Demonstrates mastery in texture, color matching, and artistic finishes.
Contributes creative problem-solving and works under tight deadlines.
Perform faux painting techniques, including metals, stone, patinas, woodgrains, and gradients.
Accurately mix paints to achieve specific hues and textures required by design.
Develop paint and surface treatment samples for approval by foremen and clients.
Able to read drawings and interpret information given from clients and project teams
Work Environment:
Shop and fabrication environment with exposure to dust, heat, noise, and odors.
Must wear appropriate PPE (respirators, gloves, eye protection, etc.) at all times.
Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly.
