Local Building Inspector

The town of Acton is seeking a full-time Local Building Inspector reporting to the Building Commissioner. Duties: Prepares daily work schedule, conducts and logs various activities, assists at service counter, communicates with citizens and contractors, schedules appointments both internally and externally, and prepares letters. Reviews plans on all approved permitted projects. Communicates laws, requirements, ordinances of the appropriate model codes from builders, contractors, subcontractors, individual homeowners, and design professionals. Inspects places for compliance and issues stop work orders. Minimum Requirements : Valid Drivers License. High school diploma or equivalency. Minimum of five years' experience in supervision of building construction or design or at least a two-year associates degree in field related to building construction or design or any combination of education and experience. Must be qualified by the MA BBRS per 780 CMR ch110.R7. Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact and communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Special Requirements: Physical activities include frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed outdoors, exposed to adverse weather conditions. Pay : H14, $80k - $100k/annually.
