Position Overview

R.E. Leggette Company is an established, growth-oriented commercial construction company with in-house carpenters launching a new division. We are seeking a highly disciplined, self-sufficient Lead Construction Estimator to take full ownership of the new division's technical infrastructure, bidding frameworks, and project takeoff operations.

This role is designed for a technically competent professional who possesses the capabilities to manage an entire estimating pipeline independently and is looking to step into a department leadership position.

Core Responsibilities

• Execute Project Takeoffs: Independently review complex commercial construction blueprints, architectural drawings, and structural specifications to generate precise, comprehensive material takeoffs.

• Establish Bidding Infrastructure: Implement and optimize digital estimating software platforms, workflow templates, and costing databases tailored to the new product lines.

• Vendor & Manufacturer Procurement: Source, analyze, and finalize competitive material quotes from major manufacturing partners and wholesale distributors.

• Formulate Bid Strategies: Prepare and finalize accurate commercial bid packages that optimize company profit margins while maintaining market competitiveness.

• Department Oversight: Manage the division's estimating pipeline and report performance metrics directly to the company owner. Provide strategic input on scaling the department as revenue goals are achieved.

Professional Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of verifiable experience in commercial construction estimating, preconstruction engineering, or technical material supply wholesaling.

• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in modern digital takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Center/The Edge, PlanSwift, or equivalent).

• Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to manage the entire estimating process from initial blueprint review to final bid submission without supervision.

• Business Acumen: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by structured, performance-based growth metrics.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 (reletive to experience).

• Performance Incentives: Structured profit-sharing directly tied to the net profitability and revenue growth of the new division.
