Position Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' building electrical design & coordination experience on $50 million+ commercial construction projects
- General knowledge of building practices, systems and assemblies
- Experience in both hard bid and CM at Risk design-assist estimating efforts is preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build excellent relationships with owners, architects, consultants and trade partners.
- Manage the owner-architect interface and assist consultants in designing cost-effective electrical systems, from initial space planning to construction-level documentation.
- Review all A/E specifications, drawings, etc. at project pricing rounds to ensure complete scope, code compliance, and content consistency.
- Coordinate all effective codes for all jurisdictions in which we work according to when the project will be permitted. It is expected that new requirements from newer model year codes be known so that requirements can be reviewed within the current design for compliance. This also includes reviewing local city ordinances to ensure the design is compliant in all aspects.
- Responsible for early coordination with local AHJs for documenting reliability of power, remote disconnecting requirements, etc.
- Coordinate with local electric utility on primary and secondary pathways, allowable sets leaving secondary windows of transformer cabinets, and placement of transformers. This involves early coordination of permanent service sizes and site walks to document existing conditions.
- Use existing knowledge of electrical pricing and cost management to support the Preconstruction Department in systems pricing and value engineering (VE). This position may be expected to manage all electrical pricing and VE effort on preconstruction pursuits in some cases.
- Lead engineering design meetings with internal and external attendees.
- Combine quantity take-off information and scope information into a complete Comparison of Bid (COB) sheet and use the completed COB to analyze trade partner pricing, ensure a complete scope of work, and determine the value of the scope of work to be included in Juneau's estimate.
- Identify and solicit trade partners for various preconstruction pursuits and ensure adequate coverage in each scope of work.
- Create scope-specific electrical trade subcontracts for each project, outlining the entire scope of work for the awarded electrical contractor.
- Create training materials and provide systems training to Juneau staff as and when required.
- Facilitate and manage electrical and telecommunication overhead to underground conversions, laying out primary and dry utility conduit pathways, quazite boxes, and riser poles. This entails meeting all parties on site to ensure all scope is covered and soliciting costs from each provider or to solicit the cost to sole source a common trench for all parties.
- Size construction services for our project teams and manage the coordination with the utility to ensure that temporary power services are installed prior to tower crane erection.
- Assist operations teams in drafting RFIs and submittal review to streamline review from consultants.
- Perform quality control inspections for building systems trades for compliance of contract documents.
- Support project team in developing deliverables for coordination and commissioning meetings and be a present resource for commissioning agents on their site visits.

- Subcontractor bid pricing review and comprehension
- Juneau estimate set-up and organization
- Project solicitation creation, issuance, maintenance, and updating
- Subcontractor database organization and updating
Physical Demands / Job Expectations:
- Position may require extended periods of time sitting and/or standing, talking both in person and over technological avenues, lifting up to 20 lbs. as needed
- Position may require travel to and work on-site between applicable Juneau Construction Company locations and jobsites with exposure to various weather conditions.
