West Edmonton Mall is looking for a certified Journeyman Carpenter, or a 3rd or 4th year apprentice ready to take the next step, with strong construction and finishing skills, attention to detail, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. As a Carpenter at West Edmonton Mall, you’ll play a key role in constructing, repairing, and maintaining structural woodwork and related building components throughout one of Canada’s most unique and high-traffic facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications to prepare layouts, determine dimensions, and identify materials required for projects.
  • Constructing, repairing, and installing structural woodwork, flooring, framing, trim, and related fixtures throughout the facility.
  • Using hand tools and power tools to complete carpentry installations, repairs, and maintenance efficiently and safely.
  • Ensuring all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly aligned, supported, graded, and completed to specification.
  • Ensuring all work complies with applicable building codes, safety standards, and West Edmonton Mall construction requirements.
  • Performing maintenance and repair work in a large, high-visibility, customer-facing environment.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail in all work performed.
  • Supporting and providing guidance to apprentice carpenters and labourers as required.
  • Supporting additional maintenance projects and repairs as needed to ensure smooth operation of a large, complex facility.
  • Following all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies, procedures, and safe work practice.

What We’re Looking For: Valid Journeyman Carpenter Certification or current 3rd or 4th year apprentice status in a recognized carpentry program, with relevant hands-on experience. Ideally 3+ years of experience in a commercial or industrial carpentry environment (or equivalent apprentice experience). Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. and performing physically demanding work throughout the facility.

  • Full-time | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Starting hourly rate: $35.00 per hour (Journeyman rate; apprentice compensation based on level and experience).
  • Must pass basic security clearance
