Our client is a leading underground utilities contractor serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specializing in commercial, residential, and public infrastructure projects.Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety practices across all field operations. This role provides coaching, training, inspections, and oversight to ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and industry best practices. The Safety Manager works closely with leadership, field teams, and project management to promote a proactive and preventionfocused safety culture.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Leadership & CultureLead the safety program and promote a culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement.Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to field teams and supervisors.Serve as the primary safety resource for employees, subcontractors, and leadership.Training & ComplianceDevelop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding for new employees.Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local requirements.Maintain uptodate records of certifications, training logs, and safety documentation.Field Inspections & Hazard MitigationConduct regular jobsite safety audits to identify hazards, behavioral risks, and improvement opportunities.Document findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.Oversee incident investigations, near-miss reports, and root-cause analyses.Regulatory & Program ManagementMaintain and update the company's safety manual, policies, and standard operating procedures.Manage reporting for OSHA logs, workers' compensation claims, and insurance requirements.Ensure compliance with utility-specific safety practices such as trench safety, confined space entry, and equipment operation.Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leaders to plan safe work operations.Participate in project kickoff meetings, safety planning sessions, and leadership reviews.Communicate safety performance metrics and improvement plans to company leadership.QualificationsProven experience in construction safety management, preferably in underground utilities or heavy civil.Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, excavation safety, utility installation practices, and industry-specific regulations.OSHA 30 required; additional safety certifications (e.g., CUSP, CHST, STS, First Aid/CPR) preferred.Strong communication, leadership, and training abilities.Ability to perform jobsite visits across the DFW region.Proficiency with safety reporting tools, incident tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to build trust, influence teams, and drive a positive safety culture.
