TRUMBULL COUNTY

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: LABORER

PAY GRADE: 3 DEPARTMENT: Sanitary Engineers

EMPLOYEE NAME: DIVISION: Brookfield

SUPERVISOR: Shane Williamson

SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, performs wide range of general maintenance work (i.e. cuts grass, weeds; cleans, mops and waxes floors; washes and waxes; scraps and paints, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

40% Performs gardening and ground maintenance work (i.e. cultivates, prunes, trims, and sprays; cut grass/weeds by hand and with power tools; spreads salt and shovels snow.

50% Performs semi-skilled maintenance around wastewater plant (i.e. mows grass, cleans, mops and waxes floor; assists with repairs and maintenance to wastewater and water facilities (i.e. pumps, sand filters, blows, communitors, etc.), cleans various wastewater tanks, machinery, channels and equipment.

Performs routine maintenance work on automotive equipment (i.e. washes and waxes cars) loads and unloads heavy materials from truck, assists in moving heavy boxes, files or equipment.

5% Assists field crews and personnel where needed. Performs fieldwork (i.e. digging scrapping in locating, raising and repairing field utilities.

5% Performs errands as needed; also picks up and drop off materials and supplies as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram for. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSES: Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
