Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.
All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

JOB SUMMARY:
Applies paints, enamels, varnishes, stains or lacquers to protect and decorate interior and exterior surfaces, trim, and fixtures or buildings, furniture, cabinets, and other structures.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Prepare and smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, steel wool, wire brushes, and paint removers; mask surfaces not to be painted.
Apply putty, spackling compound, plaster, or other fillers to fill nail holes, cracks, joints, and surface defects. Chooses the Proper type and color of paint, and application for a specific job. Check the color to make sure it is the proper shade.
Primes, paints, stains, or varnishes using a brush, spray gun, roller, or cloth. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
Cleans up upon completion of the job; cleans brushes, rollers, and spray guns; removes masking materials; removes paint from floors, windows, and other surfaces.
Helps other trades when painting is slow (Other duties as assigned). Assist in training new painters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Read and comprehend instructions, write information and complete simple forms. High School (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, composition and math. 1-2 Years of experience as a painter. Must be able to read and understand complex instructions. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. New Mexico Driver's License. Pre- Employment Drug Testing.
