Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Single-Ply Roof Mechanic/Journeyman to join our team. This role requires 35+ years of hands-on commercial roofing experience with a strong focus on single-ply membrane systems. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, perform quality installations to manufacturer specifications, and step into an informal leadership role when needed.

Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain commercial single-ply roofing systems including TPO, PVC, and EPDM membranes
Perform all phases of roofing work: tear-off, decking prep, insulation, membrane installation, and detailing
Follow manufacturer NDL installation requirements to ensure warranty compliance
Arrive on time, ready to work, with all personal tools and PPE
Assist in set up and tear-down of safety equipment; abide by all job-site safety requirements
Refuse unsafe conditions and report all improper protected situations
Mentor less-experienced crew members and act as crew leader when assigned
Deliver excellent quality and customer satisfaction on every job
Submit timecard entries at the end of each day
Participate in all assigned training and complete required certifications

Required Skills & Knowledge
Single-Ply System Installation demonstrated ability to correctly install:
Duro-Last (PVC) w/NDL
JM (TPO/PVC) w/NDL
GAF EverGuard (TPO/PVC) w/Golden Pledge
Owens Corning (TPO) w/50yr warranty
Garland and ATAS single-ply systems

Techniques & Knowledge:
Hot-air welding and seaming of thermoplastic membranes (TPO/PVC)
Mechanically attached, fully adhered, and ballasted system installation
Proper flashing, penetration detailing, and edge metal installation
Insulation board layout and fastening patterns per spec
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specs, and manufacturer installation guides
Familiarity with cloud-based CRM and payroll software

Additional Skills:
Attention to detail quality-focused installation and safety-conscious work habits
Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to give and receive feedback
Ability to exert informal leadership at all levels

Required Qualifications
35 years of commercial single-ply roofing experience
Ability to work 812-hour shifts, weekdays and weekends
Ability to work out of the area / overnight as needed
Valid California drivers license

Preferred Qualifications
OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour card
Manufacturer certifications (Duro-Last, JM, GAF EverGuard, or equivalent)
Forklift certification
Sheet metal / standing seam experience

Suggested Tools
Tool belt with nail pouch, hammer, chalk line, utility knife (straight and hook blades)
20-foot+ tape measure, tin snips, pry bar, appropriate footwear

Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent heavy lifting of 25+ lbs, often combined with bending, twisting, and working on irregular or elevated surfaces, and may occasionally require extraordinary physical activity. Work is performed outdoors and is subject to Californias Heat Illness Prevention regulations (Cal/OSHA Title 8, Section 3395) the company maintains a Heat Illness Prevention Plan and provides water, shade, and rest periods in accordance with state law.
