Position Guide

POSITION: Carpenter

REPORTS TO:

Director of Operations and Support Personnel

Maintenance Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

Current and Complete Support Application Carpentry Experience

Additional training or certification preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency necessary to complete jobs in a skilled and efficient manner.
  • Assess jobs to determine materials needed.
  • Estimate costs of jobs utilizing measurements and blueprints.
  • Keep materials ordered and in stock for work to be completed.
  • Install cabinets and complete trim work.
  • Use tools, equipment, and hand tools with proper knowledge and care.
  • Take precautions to protect students and to safeguard all equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Recommend supplies for purchase and maintain inventory of Board owned tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform rough and finished carpentry work including: layout, finish work, sheet-rock finishing, concrete forming and finishing, acoustical ceiling layout and installation, and installation of Formica and other surfaces.
  • Install and repair doors and door locks on interior and exterior doors.
  • Participate in professional development programs and meetings when requested to do so by the supervisor.
  • Accept no other employment which intervenes with the efficient and effective discharge of duties and responsibilities.
  • Uphold and enforce Talladega County Board of Education policy.
  • Promote good public relations for the Talladega County School System.
  • Follow the guidelines of confidentiality regarding all school business and student information.
  • Lift loads up to 50 on a regular basis.
  • Perform all general carpentry/woodworking duties.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Abide by the standards established by the Talladega County Board of Education for professional and personal conduct.
  • Demonstrate a concern for safety at all times.
  • Cooperate with other employees.
  • Other general work as assigned by the supervisor.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-Month Contract. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
