Off-Road Dump Truck Operator Job Description This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to operate off-road dump trucks on a commercial civil construction site in Lebanon, Indiana. You will move earth and rock within a large open farm field, supporting earthwork and earthmoving activities on a high-activity commercial job site. The role requires strong attention to safety, the ability to work long shifts, and flexibility to travel to other sites as needed. Responsibilities Operate off-road dump trucks to haul earth and rock within the commercial job site, remaining strictly on-site and not on public roads. Ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of dirt and other materials, including pulling behind scrapers when required. Follow all site safety protocols and OSHA standards, maintaining constant awareness of surroundings in a busy civil construction environment. Adhere to a strict work schedule, typically working from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with flexibility for extended hours and potential Sunday work as needed. Maintain readiness and flexibility to be transferred to other out-of-state project sites when business needs require. Operate equipment in a focused, undistracted manner; avoid any behaviors that compromise safe operation. Communicate clearly with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate movements and ensure safe, efficient material handling. Uphold professional appearance and behavior at all times in accordance with the site code of conduct. Care for assigned equipment by reporting any issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly to site leadership. Essential Skills Demonstrated proficiency in operating heavy equipment, specifically off-road dump trucks. Experience working on commercial and civil construction sites, particularly in earthwork and earthmoving operations. Valid driver's license with the ability to submit to and pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Ability to work 10-12+ hour days on a consistent basis, often starting at 6:00 a.m. Capacity to work safely in a high-activity environment with multiple pieces of heavy equipment in operation. Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and crew members in a busy job site setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Willingness to travel and work at other job sites, including out-of-state locations, when requested. Ability to meet insurance requirements to operate company vehicles for travel to other job sites. Openness to varied shifts and extended workweeks, including potential work from Monday through Sunday depending on project needs. Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including hot and humid summers, thunderstorms, cold rain, freezing rain, snow, wind, and extreme cold temperatures. Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and site-specific codes of conduct. Bilingual or strong English communication skills to support effective and safe coordination on site. Why Work Here? Team members are expected to maintain a professional appearance and conduct themselves in line with the site's code of conduct at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
