You work in a large warehouse environment that houses two very large overhead cranes, and you may also use forklifts and clamp trucks to support material handling and machine operations. Responsibilities Operate overhead cranes ranging from 6 to 60 tons to lift, move, and position steel sheets and waxed paper coils. Load steel sheets and waxed paper coils onto trains safely and efficiently, following all site procedures and safety standards. Use rigging techniques and equipment to secure loads properly before lifting or moving them. Operate clamp trucks to handle and move materials as required. Support material handling activities using forklifts, when qualified, to move products and supplies around the warehouse. Perform basic machine operation tasks related to crane and material handling equipment as needed. Conduct pre-operational checks on cranes and related equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Follow all safety protocols and procedures while working in a heavy equipment environment. Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate lifts, material movements, and train loading activities. Participate in an in-person interview and facility tour as part of the selection process, and become familiar with the warehouse layout and equipment. Essential Skills Proven experience operating overhead cranes, including heavy cranes in the 6 to 60 ton range. Crane certifications demonstrating competency and authorization to operate cranes. Experience with rigging practices and safe load handling. Ability to operate clamp trucks for material handling. Knowledge of safe heavy equipment operation in an industrial or warehouse environment. Ability to follow safety procedures and site-specific operational guidelines. Capability to work in a dark, large warehouse environment that is not climate controlled. Willingness and ability to complete an in-person interview and facility tour. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience and certification are a plus. Prior experience in machine operation within a warehouse or industrial setting. Comfort working around trains and rail loading operations. Strong communication skills to coordinate with a small team on each shift. Attention to detail when handling and loading steel sheets and waxed paper coils. Why Work Here? You join a small, close-knit workforce with approximately 13 people on each shift, allowing for strong teamwork and clear communication. The environment emphasizes trust and autonomy, with minimal micromanagement so you can focus on doing your job well. The facility offers a spacious warehouse setting and provides a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. After 90 days, you have the opportunity to transition directly, offering stability and long-term prospects. Work Environment The role is based in a large warehouse that is not climate controlled. The space tends to stay cooler in the summer and can be cold in the winter due to open doors and high ceilings. The environment is relatively dark because of the tall ceilings and lighting configuration, so you must be comfortable working in lower-light conditions. The facility houses two very large overhead cranes and supports heavy equipment and material handling operations, including clamp trucks and forklifts. Work is performed on-site, and you will participate in an in-person interview and tour to become familiar with the facility and its conditions.
