Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure such as land developments, commercial/retail projects, mixed used projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements
Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater management and stormwater conveyance, underground utility systems, erosion control, concrete flatwork, road design, maintenance of traffic, and hardscape systems
Experience with:
Design of roads including sight distance analysis, roadside design, vehicular use areas, parking lot design, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways.
Stormwater management design, hydrology, and modeling of retention/detention facilities, culverts, storm drain systems, and open channels. Knowledge of FEMA floodplains and regulations a plus.
Applicability of MUTCD including maintenance of traffic and underground utility markings and protection of utilities.
Preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans including NPDES permitting, sediment and erosion control design and inspections
Municipal zoning and variance hearings
Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
Responsible for retention and development of client relations
Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
Support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
Accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks and participate in professional societies
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum of five (5) years of civil/site development experience
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to work at various heights on structures
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
