Carpenter Job Description We are seeking an experienced carpenter to join a dynamic construction team focused on large-scale commercial projects, including office buildings, retail centers, schools, and healthcare facilities. In this role, you will perform structural framing, drywall installation, and finish carpentry while ensuring all work complies with commercial building codes and safety standards. You will work closely with other trades on new construction projects and contribute to delivering high-quality, durable, and precise results. Responsibilities Interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and specifications for commercial construction projects. Construct, install, and repair structures such as walls, floors, ceilings, partitions, and doors. Perform both rough and finish carpentry tasks using a variety of hand and power tools. Install metal and wood framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, and millwork in commercial settings. Install and adjust commercial doors, trim, and other finish components to meet project specifications. Ensure all work meets applicable commercial building codes, project specifications, and quality standards. Collaborate with other trades, including electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians, to coordinate workflow and resolve on-site issues. Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools. Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and alignment with plans, making adjustments as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in accordance with OSHA and company safety protocols. Handle general labor tasks related to commercial construction as needed. Safely lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Essential Skills 3-5 years of carpentry experience in new construction environments. 1-3 years of commercial construction experience. 1-3 years of drywall experience, including installation and finishing. Proficiency in rough carpentry, including structural framing and metal stud installation. Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim work, doors, and detailed finishing. Ability to accurately interpret and work from blueprints and architectural drawings. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in construction and carpentry. Strong ability to measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools. Experience with commercial doors and related hardware installation. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly. Experience working on commercial construction sites and understanding of related workflows. Clean driving record. Ability to pass drug and background checks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with metal framing in commercial construction projects. Familiarity with commercial building codes and industry safety standards. Comfort working with acoustic ceilings, millwork, and other commercial interior systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple trades on active job sites. Work Environment This role is based on active commercial construction sites, working primarily on new construction projects such as offices, retail centers, schools, and healthcare facilities. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work typically takes place within approximately a 2.5-hour radius of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, so travel to different job sites is required. You will regularly use a variety of hand and power tools, handle metal and wood framing materials, install drywall and acoustic ceilings, and work around other trades in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. The job involves physical work, including standing for extended periods, climbing, bending, and lifting materials up to 75 pounds. Appropriate construction attire and personal protective equipment are required to maintain a safe and professional job site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mercersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
