General Stement of Duties
The Da Center HVAC Startup & Commissioning Technician is responsible for the startup, functional testing, commissioning, and turnover of mission-critical cooling systems in da center environments. This role ensures all mechanical cooling systems opere safely, reliably, and in compliance with design intent, manufacturer requirements. The technician works closely with project managers, controls teams, TAB contractors, and clients to deliver fully valided cooling infrastructure.
Startup & Support Commissioning & Functional Testing
Perform journey-level HVAC work in, Start-up and repair of chillers, he pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, hydronic systems, VFD, VRF systems and control systems.
Scope of work also includes, but is not limited to leading a team, assigning work to semi-skilled workers, inspecting work of semi-skilled workers, assisting other skilled HVAC mechanics, working in varying weher, work conditions, and working varying heights.
Perform factory-authorized startup of air-cooled and wer-cooled HVAC equipment.
Verify installion meets manufacturer specificions and project drawings.
Inspect piping, electrical, controls, and airflow prior to energizion.
Assist contractors with punch list items reled to mechanical systems.
Document pre-functional checklists (PFCs).
Execute Level 35 commissioning for mission-critical cooling systems.
Perform functional performance testing (FPT) on:
CRAH/CRAC units
Air-cooled chillers
Cooling towers
Pumps and hydronic systems
Economizers and control sequences
Valide redundancy stregies (N, N+1, N+2).
Verify sequences of operion with BAS/EPMS teams.
Support Integred Systems Testing (IST).
Work is performed in varying weher and working varying heights requiring the use of ladders and under established and enforced safety conditions.
Documention & Reporting
Complete detailed startup reports and commissioning logs.
Maintain deficiency and issues tracking lists.
Produce client-ready turnover packages.
Provide redline markups for as-built documention.
Support MOPs, SOPs, and EOP development.
Illustrive examples of Work
Train semi-skilled workers in procedures and methods, use of tools, recognition of parts and other skills.
Repair: controls, control circuits, evaporors, condensers, air handlers, chillers, pumps, circulion pumps, supply lines, air compressors, steam/other reguling valves and sensors, energy recovery ventilors (ERVs) and associed gas pack.
Supervise, participe, and inventory parts, supplies and tools on service truck
Clean cooling towers, replace filters, lubrice equipment, inspect and replace parts and components
Pick up parts and supplies from vendors keeping accure receipts and records on every purchase.
Opere computerized scheduling and troubleshooting heing and cooling control system.
Opere a variety of hand and power tools.
Strict adherence to OSHA safety standards all times.
Adherence to tendance policies.
Attendance to training sessions on new technology as it becomes available
Customer & Project Interface
Serve as on-site technical representive during commissioning.
Participe in project meetings and readiness reviews; coordine test sequencing with project stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance to contractors and clients.
Support warranty validion and owner training.
Desirable Educion and Experience
Graduion from high school or equivalent.
4-7+ years commercial/light-commercial HVAC experience supplemented by course work in a reled trade, or an equivalent combinion of educion and experience.
Special Requirement
Possession of a valid drivers license.
Travel, including overnight stays during project assignments, is required.
Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
Hold a valid CFC certificion.

Thorough knowledge of methods, tools, parts, and equipment used in HVAC trade.
Thorough knowledge of occupional hazards and safety precautions in work area.
Thorough knowledge of diagnostic troubleshooting of HVAC equipment.
General knowledge of diagnostic troubleshooting of direct digital controls.
Ability to understand and accurely follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schemics drawings.
Ability to maintain accurely routine records.
Ability to exercise the physical strength and agility necessary to perform job tasks, with a minimum of 50 lbs. lifting and carrying capacity and occasional 75 lb. lifting capacity.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relionships with co-workers, sales engineers, and customers.
Ability to work overtime short notice, evenings, weekends and holidays.
