Architect Mission Critical / Data Center
Job Description

This role provides project architect leadership for mission critical projects, including data centers and command and control facilities. You will develop and manage the full construction process, contribute to all phases of design and delivery, and help grow a dedicated mission critical and data center practice in Minneapolis. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where you meet challenging deadlines while shaping a start-up style segment within an established, nationally recognized firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design and project delivery for mission critical and data center projects, including command and control facilities.
  • Contribute to and oversee all phases of the architectural process, from schematic design and design development through construction documentation and construction administration.
  • Develop and manage the construction process for data center and mission critical projects, ensuring quality, constructability, and adherence to project goals.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including MEP design partners, to coordinate integrated project solutions.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines and project milestones.
  • Oversee fiscal responsibility for assigned projects, including budget tracking, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Handle contract management activities, including understanding and administering project contracts and scope of work.
  • Drive project management activities, such as scheduling, stakeholder communication, and risk management, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Use Revit and other design tools to produce accurate, coordinated architectural drawings and models for mission critical and data center facilities.
  • Support the growth of the mission critical and data center architectural market in Minneapolis by building relationships and contributing to business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and grow a dedicated architecture team focused on data center and mission critical projects in the Minneapolis office.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings, presenting design concepts and project updates to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Apply best practices in mission critical and data center design to support reliability, resilience, and operational performance.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of standards, processes, and templates that support consistent, high-quality project delivery.
Essential Skills
  • 810+ years of professional architectural experience.
  • Professional architecture-related degree; Masters in Architecture preferred.
  • Licensed Architect or high-level Job Captain experience.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Revit; Revit skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to all phases of architectural projects, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Experience with data center or mission critical projects and a strong desire to continue working on data center projects.
  • Project management experience, including oversight of project delivery, design, schedules, and coordination.
  • Ability to oversee fiscal responsibility and contract management for architectural projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and thrive in a fast-paced setting with firm deadlines.
  • Strong design skills and understanding of mission critical and data center design principles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • LEED AP credential preferred.
  • Registered Architect status preferred.
  • Experience growing or supporting a mission critical or data center market segment.
  • Comfort working with national clients across sectors such as retail, higher education, healthcare, and federal projects.
  • Interest in contributing to a start-up style environment within an established firm, including building and mentoring a future team.
Work Environment

You will join a 450-person architectural and engineering firm, with approximately 400 team members in the United States and 50 in India. The Minneapolis office is the headquarters and is actively growing, particularly within the architecture team and mission critical/data center segment. Additional offices in Fort Worth and Miami provide architectural and MEP design support, offering a collaborative, multi-office project environment. The firm serves national clients, including major retailers and multiple mission critical clients, and is focused on expanding its presence in mission critical, higher education, healthcare/hospital, and federal markets. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
