Position Overview: Miller Environmental Group (MEG) is seeking a CDL Class A Driver / Field Laborer to support our environmental services operations. This position is responsible for the safe operation of CDL Class A commercial vehicles used in environmental remediation, waste transport, industrial cleaning, and spill response, while also performing hands-on field labor when not driving. This role supports both emergency response and scheduled project work and requires flexibility, physical endurance, technical awareness, and a strong commitment to safety. Work is often performed in challenging environments under strict DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements.

Compensation:
Starting pay: $30+/hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
Driving & Equipment Operation:
Operate CDL Class A commercial vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT and company requirements
Drive tractor trailers, tankers, roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks, and other CDL units
Transport regulated and non-regulated materials between job sites, facilities, and disposal locations
Secure loads and ensure proper labeling and placarding for hazardous materials
Safely maneuver large vehicles in tight or complex jobsite conditions using spotters as required
Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Maintain required DOT logs (DTR/DDL) and compliance documentation
Report accidents, violations, defects, or equipment issues immediately
Travel to weigh stations as required for load verification
Environmental & Industrial Field Work:
Assist with environmental cleanup, remediation, spill response, and industrial cleaning
Support emergency response deployments and on-call operations
Handle, package, and transport regulated materials under supervision
Assist in setting up containment and work zones
Clean contaminated equipment and work areas using appropriate methods and tools
Load and unload tools, materials, debris, and equipment
Perform physical labor including digging, shoveling, site preparation, and debris removal
Support vacuum truck operations including hose handling and spotting
Maintain basic field documentation such as container counts or material tracking
Participate in daily safety meetings and required training
Report safety hazards, equipment problems, or unusual site conditions
Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Valid, unrestricted CDL Class A license with acceptable driving record
Ability to safely operate CDL vehicles and complete DOT documentation
Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. and perform heavy physical labor
Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, and varying weather conditions
Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and on uneven terrain
Willingness to get dirty
Willingness to work extended hours, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, travel (when needed), and be on-call (potentially in the middle of the night)
Ability to wear respirators and meet OSHA respiratory protection and facial hair requirements
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Strong reliability, teamwork, and willingness to learn and try new things
Must pass DOT physical, fit-for-duty physical, drug/alcohol screening, and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior CDL driving experience in environmental, industrial, or construction settings
Experience with vacuum trucks, tankers, or roll-off equipment
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Field-based work performed primarily outdoors for 8-12+ hours per day
Exposure to noise, traffic, chemicals, uneven terrain, confined spaces, and elevated work areas
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and operating equipment
Required use of PPE including coveralls, gloves, eye protection, respirators, air monitors, and protective suits
Ability to wear fully encapsulated Level A PPE with SCBA for extended periods when required
