Structural Project Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a Structural Project Engineer who is excited to design and analyze building structures across a wide range of unique, complex, and technically challenging projects. In this role, you'll work handson with structural systems in concrete, steel, mass timber, and posttensioned applications-while collaborating closely with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams.

You'll perform structural calculations, develop plans and details, support construction administration, and contribute to highimpact design decisions. As you grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility, including independently managing projects and ultimately serving as the Engineer of Record.

What You'll Do

  • Perform structural analysis and design for building systems in concrete, steel, and other structural materials.
  • Build, refine, and interpret 2D and 3D structural analysis models for frames and lateral systems.
  • Develop structural plans, details, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Support construction administration, including site visits, field observations, and shop drawing reviews.
  • Determine gravity and lateral loads, understand load paths, and apply relevant building codes.
  • Prepare design drawings, quantities, cost estimates, specifications, reports, and other deliverables.
  • Produce technical studies and engineering reports to support design decisions.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, clients, and project teams to resolve design issues and meet project requirements.
  • Work alongside senior engineers on complex, oneofakind structural projects to gain advanced technical experience.
  • Contribute to firmwide engineering, modeling, and drafting standards.
  • Follow internal quality control processes and established engineering procedures.
  • Maintain a proactive, clientfocused mindset and contribute to a positive, teamoriented culture.
  • Progress toward independently managing and designing projects and serving as the Engineer of Record.

What You Bring

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • 4-8 years of experience designing building structures.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in your resident state.
  • Strong background in structural design and analysis, including midrise buildings.
  • Proficiency in structural calculations and interpreting analysis results.
  • Ability to apply building codes to determine loads and load paths.
  • Experience with 2D/3D structural analysis software.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to following established standards and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing midrise structures using steel, posttensioned concrete, or mass timber.
  • Structural licensure or active pursuit of advanced structural credentials.
  • Experience with Revit for structural modeling and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Rhino or similar modeling tools.
  • background in construction administration, including site visits and shop drawing review.
  • Experience contributing to engineering and drafting standards.
  • Strong attention to detail in preparing technical studies, reports, and documentation.
  • Project coordination or project management experience within structural engineering.

Work Environment

You'll work in a collaborative, officebased environment alongside a team of structural engineers and project managers. Your work will center on building design projects-including midrise structures and advanced systems such as steel, posttensioned concrete, and mass timber.

You'll regularly use structural analysis and modeling tools (including Revit and potentially Rhino) and participate in construction administration activities through site visits and field observations. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
