Part-Time Shop Laborer**

A local electrical contracting company is hiring a part-time shop laborer to help with basic shop organization, cleanup, material handling, and wire stripping.

This is a flexible, part-time position that would be a good fit for someone looking for extra side income, a few hours of steady work each week, and a hands-on role in a small shop environment. This is not an electrical apprentice position and does not include electrical installation work. For those interested in the electrical apprenticeship, this role will boost an applicants score when applying to that program as it counts as relevant work experience.

**Schedule:**
Approximately 8 hours per week. The scheduled day for this is flexible and can work around someone's other obligations, it can be split into multiple days, depending on the tasks needed and can even take place on a weekend.

**Pay:**
Starts at $16 per hour

**Primary Responsibilities:**

* Strip scrap wire and prepare copper/materials for recycling
* Sort, organize, and move electrical materials in the shop
* Clean and maintain shop areas, storage areas, and workspaces
* Sweep floors, take out trash, break down cardboard, and keep common areas organized
* Move materials, bins, wire, scrap, tools, and supplies as directed
* Help maintain an organized and safe shop environment
* Assist with basic non-electrical labor tasks as needed
* Occasional yard maintenance around shop building
* Other tasks as assigned
* Follow instructions, safety expectations, and company procedures

**Physical Requirements:**
This is a hands-on labor position. Applicants must be able to safely perform physical shop work with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

* Lift, carry, push, and pull materials commonly weighing 25 to 50 pounds
* Occasionally move heavier items with assistance or proper equipment
* Bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and stand for extended periods
* Handle wire, scrap material, boxes, tools, bins, and shop supplies
* Work in a shop environment that may include dust, noise, sharp wire ends, scrap material, and changing temperatures
* Use basic hand tools and shop tools after training
* Follow safety instructions and use required personal protective equipment
