Forklift and Loader Operator - Block Plant
Job Description Summary
Employee responsible for safely operating a Forklift and Loader to load and unload block products, required daily paperwork and other various tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor. These duties may involve a broad range of responsibilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition.
- Craftsmanship and ability to follow OSHA/MSHA safety standards.
- Ability to operate Forklift and Loading Machine.
- Ability to transport material with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
- Perform daily pre-start up procedures, i.e. note the service due date, check fluid levels and make sure the equipment to be used is in good running order, complete Daily Equipment Checklist.
- Keep equipment clean. Wiping down equipment not only promotes a positive public image but enables the operator to inspect the equipment at close range.
- Provide customer service on an internal and external basis.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
- Requires physical labor such as shoveling, lifting, cleaning yard and plant work area.
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and complete daily routine paperwork.
- Stock inventory.
- Follows policies and procedures to ensure the job is done properly.
- Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew can operate at normal efficiency level.
- Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the public.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
- Candidates may be crossed-trained to perform other duties in the plant as deemed necessary.
- Must pass drug test, criminal background check, and Functional Capacity Exam.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Coordinate with accounting and warehouse department in daily sales processing, including customer pickup from the warehouse or customer delivery
- Understand and abide by company policies and procedures
- Display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required or assigned
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all company employees
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid driver's license or other form of transportation
- Experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving defined variables in standardized situations
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving machinery and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet, and extreme heat or cold conditions
Physical Demands:
- Physical ability to operate equipment and to transport material. Position may require employee to unload delivered materials by equipment and by hand.
- Ability to lift 50lbs, and with team or assisted lift up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand and walk during shift.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works around moving equipment, mechanical parts, and is exposed to both inside and outside weather conditions, noise and dusty conditions.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
