Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring work adheres to project plans, specifications, and quality criteria.
- Oversee the entire implementation process from work preparation handoff through project completion and delivery.
- Provide operational leadership to the field execution team and subcontractors as part of a medium-sized project team.
- Plan and coordinate daily and long-range work activities so that projects progress efficiently and safely.
- Lead and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and labor teams to ensure seamless collaboration and productivity on site.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, and stakeholders, maintaining regular communication throughout the project.
- Maintain ongoing contact with clients during construction, providing updates, addressing concerns, and supporting a positive client experience.
- Monitor project schedules with a strong emphasis on detailed scheduling, using tools such as MS Project and Procore to track progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Manage project budgets at the field level, including financial monitoring and settlement of projects in coordination with the project management team.
- Handle change management in the field, including processing and coordinating change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify that work meets industry standards, client expectations, and internal quality control requirements.
- Enforce safety regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety standards.
- Conduct or support toolbox meetings and other safety or training sessions to ensure staff are informed, competent, and qualified to perform their work.
- Maintain a hazard-free work environment by identifying risks, implementing corrective actions, and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Use project management and construction software (including MS Project, Procore, Sage, and Bluebeam) for scheduling, documentation, reporting, and coordination.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, progress documentation, compliance records, and financial tracking as required.
- Identify issues, delays, or conflicts during construction and implement effective solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate and oversee ground-up construction, office fit-outs, and renovation projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $20 million, with a focus on projects in the $35 million range.
- Support estimation and planning activities as needed, including reviewing drawings, quantities, and scope for constructability and accuracy.
- Ensure that clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and biopharma projects meet the specialized technical and cleanliness requirements associated with these environments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support professional development, training, and continuous improvement within the field organization.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent in the commercial construction industry, with a strong understanding of field-based project management.
- 710+ years of experience delivering high-end clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and similar technical projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects in healthcare, manufacturing, clean rooms, and biopharma environments.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of multiple stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials, particularly for commercial and technical facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Experience with change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs in a commercial construction setting.
- Proficiency in project scheduling with a strong emphasis on detailed schedule development and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with construction project management software, including MS Project, Procore, and Sage.
- Familiarity with digital tools for project coordination, documentation, and reporting, including Bluebeam.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and supervise field staff and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated ability to provide operational management to an entire field execution team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions in the field.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulations, with the ability to enforce safety standards on site.
- Experience working with general contractors and managing subcontractor performance and coordination.
- Ability to take a project from purchase order through final completion, including field execution, coordination, and closeout.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP certification or progress toward PMP is highly valued.
- OSHA certification is preferred, with additional industry safety certifications considered a plus.
- Experience with construction estimation and cost awareness at the field level.
- Work with commercial construction projects such as ground-up builds, office fit-outs, and renovations.
- Experience working on projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $20 million, particularly in the $35 million range.
- Familiarity with clean room, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and biopharma project requirements and best practices.
- Experience in healthcare and manufacturing construction projects.
- Knowledge of subcontract management, including selection, coordination, and performance oversight.
- Exposure to manufacturing and semiconductor environments, including coordination with specialized vendors and equipment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in training and development programs.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilton, CT.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $180000.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
