Senior Estimator – Ornamental Metal & Interior Glass Premier Family-Owned Construction Firm

Location: Manhattan, NY (In-Office)

We are seeking a proactive, highly technical Senior Estimator to serve as the primary authority and lead for our high-end Ornamental Metal and Interior Glass Division in Manhattan.

In this role, you will act as the technical lead to head estimating operations, working with absolute independence to drive the department's workload, establish vendor pipelines, and get ownership "out of the weeds." This position bypasses exterior facades to focus exclusively on high-profile interior architectural metals, decorative glazing, glass/fire-rated doors, and specialized ornamental systems. Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Bid Ownership: Manage the estimating lifecycle from RFP to proposal independently, with minimal oversight.
  
  
• Technical Take-offs: Perform precise take-offs and cost analyses tailored to interior glass and metal.
  
  
• Interior Scope Focus: Lead bids for interior systems (decorative glazing, glass/fire-rated doors, ornamental metalwork). No exterior facades or curtain walls.
  
  
• Vendor & RFQ Management: Draft clear, explicit RFQs. Leverage fabricator networks to secure competitive rates.
  
  
• Proactive Problem Solving: Review blueprints to catch design conflicts or budget leaks; independently investigate solutions.
  
  
• Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for $\ge 5\%$ budget savings through smart alternatives.
  
  
• Collaboration: Partner with Drafting, the Shop, and PMs to ensure designs are highly feasible.
  
  

Position Requirements

• Senior Expertise: Verifiable track record of running construction bids independently from day one.
  
  
• Industry Knowledge: Deep technical understanding of interior glass and ornamental metals (storefronts, railings, specialty trims).
  
  
• Vendor Network: Existing relationships with regional glass and metal fabricators/suppliers.
  
  
• Clear Communication: Exceptional written skills for drafting crystal-clear emails and vendor RFQs.
  
  
• Proactive Persona: A resourceful go-getter who asks sharp questions and takes absolute ownership.
