About the Role
Sesmas Tree Service is seeking an experienced Tree Foreman to lead a crew on residential and commercial tree care jobs across the Charlotte metro area. As the on-site leader, you'll run the daily operation managing safety, productivity, and quality from arrival to cleanup. This is a key leadership role for someone who knows tree work inside and out and can keep a crew safe, efficient, and professional in front of clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and direct the crew on daily job assignments, from setup to final cleanup
Run the job site safely, enforcing ANSI Z133 standards and all company safety protocols
Perform skilled tree work including pruning, removals, rigging, and climbing as needed
Conduct on-site job briefings and toolbox talks before each job
Assess each job site for hazards (power lines, structures, traffic, tree condition)
Manage equipment use, maintenance, and accountability for the crew
Communicate professionally with clients and property managers on site
Verify the scope of work matches the work order and flag any changes
Train and mentor groundsmen and developing climbers
Complete daily job reports, time tracking, and any incident documentation
Ensure the truck and equipment are loaded, secured, and ready each day
Requirements
3+ years of hands-on tree care experience, including climbing and rigging
Proven ability to lead and direct a crew safely and productively
Valid driver's license (CDL strongly preferred)
Strong working knowledge of tree care equipment, rigging, and felling techniques
Solid understanding of safety standards and hazard assessment
Ability to perform heavy physical labor in all weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
Strong communication skills with crew and clients
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong plus
Preferred (Not Required)
ISA Certified Arborist or working toward certification
TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualified) credential
First Aid / CPR certified
Aerial lift / bucket truck experience
Experience working in multifamily or commercial property settings
