Description
Pipefitter II is responsible for assembling, layout, installing and maintaining pipe systems on steam, fluid or gas systems. Pipefitters may work in all parts of the construction or maintenance site including in buildings, outside, and inside structures, i.e., tanks or boilers. The work may also include working in underground (excavations) areas and working at heights more than 300 ft.
Read and interpret blueprints
Apply mathematics to solve problems
Assist in fabricating and installing gaskets and pipe fit
Assist in performing cutting/threading operations using a machine
Assist in using measuring tools and portable power tools
Assist in making decisions based on measurable criteria
Testing pipe and tube installations
Secure pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
Assist in fabricating and installing pipe systems, hangers, supports, valves and components
Assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation
Rigging material and equipment
Fabricating pipe systems and piping spools
Perform clean up duties and spotting on all activities
Elevated work under 6ft or 6ft and higher
Use hand tools and power tools
Cutting pipe with bandsaw, cutting disc and cutting material with oxygen/acetylene torch and plasma cutter
Running a beveling machine and ability to bevel pipe
Bolt up equipment and flangers
Thread pipe
Layout piping systems
Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic tests
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 4 years experience
Must be able to assess through Burns and McDonnell assessment program
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand, walk, sit, or reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, push and pull
Ability to use repetitive hand motions and the ability to grasp and operate field tools and equipment
Ability to climb on, in or through equipment in confined spaces and elevated work using fall protection harnesses
Ability to work long hours with infrequent days off, night shifts, and in adverse climates
Ability to use respirators or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
Ability to utilize vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Ability to lift, carry and or move up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in an environment with loud noises and vibrations for extended periods of time
Ability to properly wear and/or use Personal Protection Equipment
