Position Summary:
This position is responsible for working closely with production operators and production supervisors to drive improvements with line performance reliability and SMED activities. Demonstrate strong sense of urgency. Supports preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Performs effective TPM audits with the operators.
Essential Functions:
- Supports daily production activities, department initiatives, support predictive/preventative maintenance program and continuous improvement efforts.
- Effectively utilizes time to support production line, work orders, TPM audits, root cause analysis, and items on fast response board.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, working closely with operators.
- Works closely with production team to follow set up sheets.
- Working with operators, and supervisors uses 5 why and/or 6 step troubleshooting process to address inefficiencies.
- Utilizes the Fast Response boards to track and correct issues timely.
- Willing to learn the set-up, changeover, and operation of all production and process equipment for assigned lines.
- Safely and proficiently operates necessary equipment to make improvements and repairs - i.e. welders, drill presses, hand tools, power tools and other shop equipment.
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs in response to equipment errors and/or equipment improvements.
- Repair pipe systems, pumps, machinery or equipment.
- Assist production in exploring new and better ways to maximize line speeds and increase performance reliability including new design, lay-outs, reduce or eliminate change-over time, waste reduction ideas, and other process improvements.
- Drives Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) activities and machine set up sheet process.
- Monitor change parts for assigned production lines and assure proper availability to maintain the lines performance reliability.
- Supports key point sheets and standard work for maintenance and production processes.
- Work closely with production supervisor to perform work order activities during changeovers or scheduled downtime.
- Monitor MC Express.
- Works well with all shifts to address issues for assigned lines.
- Available for maintenance weekends as needed.
- Good attendance record (less than 2 absences).
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Vocational certificate or degree in a maintenance related field or be able to pass the following tests:
- Bennett Mechanical with a minimum score of 70%
- Ramsay Combined Basic Skills with a minimum score of 70%
- Ramsay Mechanical Maintenance Trainee with a minimum score of 60%
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience at ATI preferred or previous employment in a maintenance related field.
- Basic Welding (MIG / TIG) and fabrication skills (aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel) required.
- Must have working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, AC/DC Drives, PLC, motor controls and 208v, 230v, and 480v electrical power distribution.
- Possess a basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, valves, solenoids and be able to troubleshoot using a schematic.
- Must have knowledge of industrial mechanics including gears, belts, sheaves, bearings, couplings and drives.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
- Background in packaging equipment is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to become Arc flash certified to level 2, Scissor/Boom Lift Certified and Forklift Certified .
- Willing to attend outside classes as needed.
- Must display strong teamwork skills and have the ability to work with operators and support groups to resolve day-to-day issues involving maintenance, and throughput; must lead by example.
- Must be able to follow all safety and PPE requirements, without any safety write-ups within the previous 6 months (if applicable).
- Willingness and ability to train other operators.
- Must be able to work overtime or flexible hours when required.
- Must be willing to commit to this position for a minimum of 2 years with the exception of a promotion: but will evaluate request for changing Teams (based on management approval and business needs).
- Must be able to effectively use search engines on computers, have basic Word, Excel, capabilities and be able to use basic tablet functions.
