Grounds/maintenance laborer

La Luz is seeking a motivated and resourceful Grounds laborer. This role can be seasonal (full or part time) or permanent (full time). This position reports to the Grounds Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Care for turf, trees, and plantings, including mowing, trimming, pruning, hand weeding and weed control (may apply pesticides).
- Maintain hardscape areas, including gravel, sidewalks, and firebreaks.
- Keep the irrigation system running smoothly and attend to leaks, clogged valves, etc. when they occur.
- Assist with fountain care including frequent cleaning and setting pump timers.
- Assist with swimming pool maintenance. Maintain cleanliness of the pool area, including restrooms.
- Trash and debris collection and clearing across the property.

Requirements:
- Verbal and written English communication; interviews will be conducted in English
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Valid Drivers license and use of a suitable vehicle
- Pass a drug test and background check

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a groundskeeping/landscaping crew member, or similar role
- Experience in operating grounds equipment, tools and machinery (mowers, trimmers, work utility vehicle)
- Experience with irrigation systems

Physical demands:
- Work most of the day outdoors in all seasons
- Operate a work utility vehicle (Gator), mowers, and other landscape grooming tools
- Climb (including on a ladder), bend, reach, sit, dig, lift (50 lbs) and walk our large property
