Job DescriptionAECOM Hunt has an immediate need for a Construction Superintendent with experience in Higher Education/Campus Projects, for our new project in Arlington, TX.
The successful candidate will lead field operations from mobilization through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction on complex, multiphase campus projects.
Job Duties:
- Lead all daytoday site activities for higher education projects, coordinating trades, logistics, and campus interface.
- Support our culture of safety and maintain quality control while meeting schedule and budget objectives.
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for clients, campus stakeholders, inspectors, and design partners.
- Plan lookahead schedules, sequence work, and manage daily coordination with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage campus logistics: implement site access, pedestrian and traffic control, noise/vibration controls, and utility shutdown planning on occupied campuses.
- Manage punch lists.
- Coordinate building systems: supervise complex MEP, HVAC balancing, fire/life safety testing, and building automation integration.
- Administer the work: lead daily reports, RFIs, field memos, change order input, and asbuilt documentation; support cost and risk controls.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/BA Engineering, Construction Management or similar curriculum and 4 years relevant construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years of superintendent experience with a focus on higher education or similarly complex institutional projects.
- Demonstrated success delivering highly specific buildings/classrooms/student housing/athletic/rec centers, or occupied campus renovations.
- Expert knowledge of field operations, sequencing, and campus logistics (utility shutdowns, noise windows, exam/semester constraints, and phased turnovers).
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, life safety, and commissioning for campus buildings; ability to read and interpret drawings/specs.
- Proficiency with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore), digital plan review tools, and lookahead scheduling practices
- OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain promptly).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problemsolving skills; proven ability to manage subcontractors and maintain positive client relationships.
- Ability to work on active/occupied campuses, including occasional nights/weekends for critical work.
Physical Demands:
- The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis.
Work Environment:
- Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on the scope and progress of the project.
