Journeyman Electrician

VALiNTRY is seeking a Journeyman Industrial Electrician who will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment and systems within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical maintenance, equipment reliability, and safe plant operations. The successful candidate will support production equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.

This position operates within a chemical manufacturing facility and requires the daily use of respiratory protection and other required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation

Starting at $45.00/hour for 1st Shift , plus comprehensive benefits and substantial overtime opportunities paid at time-and-a-half. An additional shift differential is offered for employees assigned to 3rd Shift. Higher compensation may be considered for candidates with exceptional industrial electrical experience, specialized certifications, PLC troubleshooting expertise, or other highly relevant technical skills.

Available Shifts

We currently have two openings available:

  • 1st Shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 10:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Candidates must be available to work the assigned shift and be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Maintenance
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Diagnose and repair motors, motor starters, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, breakers, and control panels.
  • Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform corrective repairs as needed.
Equipment Support
  • Support manufacturing equipment including pumps, mixers, conveyors, reactors, and packaging systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
PLC & Controls Support
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment, including inputs, outputs, sensors, and power supplies.
  • Assist in identifying electrical and control-related issues.
  • Navigate HMI screens for troubleshooting and alarm recognition.
  • Escalate programming and advanced controls issues to engineering or controls personnel.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, company safety policies, and LOTO procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and shift reports.
  • Utilize required PPE and follow established safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Journeyman Electrician license, Journeyman card, or equivalent industrial electrical certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Strong knowledge of motors, motor controls, VFDs, MCCs, transformers, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work either assigned shift as business needs require.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be medically qualified and able to pass respirator fit testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in chemical, process manufacturing, food processing, or other industrial environments.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens-controlled equipment.
  • NFPA 70E or Arc Flash safety training.
  • Experience working with automated production equipment.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and chemicals.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Daily use of respiratory protection is required.
  • To maintain an effective respirator seal, employees must be clean-shaven in areas where the respirator contacts the face. Facial hair that interferes with the respirator seal is not permitted.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including respirators, safety glasses, hearing protection, chemical-resistant clothing, gloves, and arc flash gear as required.
