Position Overview

SFDS is seeking experienced and dependable Installers/Carpenters to join our freelance project team. This role is ideal for hands-on professionals with strong carpentry skills, installation experience, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments. Projects vary in scope and location, so adaptability and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Perform on-site installation of custom carpentry, millwork, cabinetry, fixtures, and fabricated elements

Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood and other construction materials accurately

Read and interpret shop drawings, blues, and project specifications

Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

Ensure installations meet quality standards and project timelines

Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and installers on-site

Maintain a clean,anized, and safe work environment

Troubleshoot installation challenges and make field adjustments as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

Proven experience in carpentry, woodworking, millwork, or construction installation

Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and job-site safety practices

Ability to read blues, shop drawings, and technical measurements

Proficiency withmon carpentry tools and equipment

Reliable transportation to job sites throughout NYC and surrounding areas

Ability to lift heavy materials and stand/walk for extended periods

Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail

OSHA certification is a plus

Schedule & Availability

Flexible schedule required

Must be available for occasional nights and weekends based on project demands

Project-based/on-call scheduling

Compensation

Starting at $25/hour

Higher rates available based on experience, skill level, and project performance
